A beautiful fountain pen created by Radius 1934 for the Vancouver Pen Club
In 2025 the Vancouver Pen Club had Radius 1934 create a fountain pen exclusive to the Club members. The pen uses the Settimo model, and a dark marbled resin, Marmo.
This pen is made from rods of of a beautiful dark resin. Fitted with a JoWo steel or gold nib, and a converter/cartridge ink fill system. The silver trim goes well with the dark rich colours of the resin.
This particular resin has had limited use, conveys a different, bold, appealing look. The eyes explore for an interesting and non-repetitive display of colours. The members of the colour viewed a selection of resins and choose this one as their resin of choice. Good decision.
The original Radius was founded in Turin, Italy in 1934. It was a prestigious brand in the 30s and 40s. In the post-war period, the nuymber of pen manufactures in Settimo Torinese increases to the level that it became the international capital of writing instruments.
The Settimo pen has a good feel in the hand. Closed, the pen measures 143 mm, the body with nib is 123 mm, the cap diamteter is 16.8 mm, the grip section 11.6 mm. When compared to the Leonardo Momento Zero pen there are slight differences that give this pen its own feel. The Momento Zerio measure 142 mm, the body with nib is 127 mm, the cap diamtere is 16.5 and the grip section measures 10.6. The Settimo is a little thicker where you hold the pen, the body wider and ever so slightly shorter.
The cap band is the classic style of the original Radius 1934 pehns.
I enjoy writing with the pen. My is fitted with a 14 kt gold Stub 1.1 nib, it creates a beautiful line with just enough edge to the characters to reflect my style of writing.
While this resin is not available from the Radius 1934 there are plenty of other resins. I particulary like my first pen from this company, the Radius 1934 Settimo Marno Bianco.
